Foundation Logo

The logo of the GROM. Strength and Honour Foundation refers to the badge of the Special Operations Formation GROM which, in turn, is a symbolic and traditional reference to the „Cichociemni” Paratroopers of the Home Army and the Parachute Badge of the Polish Armed Forces in the West from World War II as a result of the initiative of its originator, co-founder, and first commander the late Brigadier General Sławomir Petelicki (1946-2012). It depicts a diving eagle ready to attack.

The eagle with a thunderbolt (GROM’s symbol) in its beak is depicted against the background of the globe painted in three colours symbolizing the basic tactics of combat operations used by GROM commandos, namely black (urban warfare), green (behind enemy lines, in various geophysical conditions), and blue (counter-terrorist and special missions and combined land and sea operations as well as missions on ships and oil platforms).

Our Foundation’s logo is primarily intended to symbolise the general idea and purpose of the late Brigadier General Sławomir Petelicki (1946-2012) that motivated him in founding and co-organising the Special Operations Formation GROM. Its operators and soldiers strike like a bolt out of the blue, accurately, unexpectedly, and effectively, in every corner of the globe, at any time, and in various atmospheric conditions.
