{"id":1172,"date":"2022-03-06T10:55:53","date_gmt":"2022-03-06T09:55:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eng.fundacjagrom.org.pl\/eng\/?p=1172"},"modified":"2022-03-15T15:20:36","modified_gmt":"2022-03-15T14:20:36","slug":"1172","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/eng.fundacjagrom.org.pl\/eng\/2022\/03\/06\/1172\/","title":{"rendered":"Major Aleksander Tarnawski passed away (1921-2022)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It is with great sorrow that we inform that the last \u201cCichociemny\u201d Paratrooper of the Home Army Major Aleksander TARNAWSKI \u201cUp\u0142az\u201d passed away on 4 March 2022 at the age of 101. Born in 1921, he had been trained in diversion and served as an armour soldier. He took the Home Army oath on 23.09.1943 and was dropped into occupied Poland on the night of 16.04.1944. Having made a successful landing, he was assigned to the Nowogr\u00f3dek Home Army District as officer with the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Company, 7<sup>th<\/sup> Battalion, 77<sup>th<\/sup> Infantry Regiment of the Home Army.
